What can you visit in the surroundings of the Viewpoint Lodge?

A must is the Green Crater lake. A nice round lake with beautiful scenery. It is 10 km from the lodge behind the military airbase. Some flamingos are often on the lake. We can organize a half day trip with a Bajaj ( tuk-tuk). The driver waits you there, while you walk down in the crater (80m) and visit the area. On the way back you can visit Bishoftu Lake, where you pass nearby. The price for the Bajaj is around 1300 birr. Maximum 3 people are authorized in the Bajaj. On Tuesday and Saterday, there is market in Debre Zeit. Even if it not a special market, for those who did not visit Ethiopia a lot, it is nice to see. A second lake to walk around is HORA lake at 2 km from the Lodge. The easy walk around takes about 1,5 hour, on a new path, recently made. For Birdwatchers, you need several days to explore all the opportunities in Debre Zeit. In our garden, you can see easily 50 different birds the first day. Did you see the nest of the Hammerkoph ? We also organize visits of 8 days to the South. From Arba Minch we drive to Konso land, passing by the Banni and Ari people. We give you the chance to put up your tent by the Hammer and Mursi people, eat a goat together and visit the different markets on the road. For those who need a taxi to go back to Addis or to the Airport, we have 2 taxis 24 h.
